In the 16th century, commercial and official perfume was first worked on by two French people.

They were Catherine de' Medici and Rene le Florentin. However, it was a deep secret and they worked on it from an underground passageway. During the Renaissance period, perfume was worn only by the wealthy and famous people. Poor people could not afford it.

This led the French and other European nations to grow Aromatic flowers in order to fuel the increasing demand for perfume. Perfume-making and aromatherapy are related because they make use of the natural scent of flowers and plants to motivate, inspire, calm, relax, attract and cause a stir in society.
